How Our Cuff Bracelets Are Made

How Our Cuff Bracelets Are Made

How our cuff bracelets are made - from raw silver to a ready to wear piece

Every cuff bracelet we create begins with a simple sheet of solid sterling silver. But what makes each piece truly special is the care, time, and craftsmanship that go into transforming that silver into a meaningful, wearable heirloom.

Here's a behind the scenes look at how our silver cuff bracelets are made, right here in Herefordshire, UK.

1. Sourcing Solid Sterling Silver
We use only high-quality 925 sterling silver, sourced from trusted UK suppliers who share our commitment to quality. Each cuff bracelet starts as a piece of raw sheet, rod or bar, ready to be shaped and transformed into a piece of jewellery.

2. Choosing the Right Thickness
We carefully match the thickness of the sterling silver to the width of the cuff bracelet to ensure strength and durability. This ensures every bracelet feels solid, sturdy, and comfortable for everyday wear.

3. Annealing and Shaping
The silver is annealed — gently heated to soften it — so that it can be shaped without springing back. We then form the basic curve by hand using a bangle mandrel and specialist forming tools.

4. Hammering to Strengthen
The bracelet is hammered carefully on the mandrel. This hammering process "work-hardens" the silver, strengthening it so the bracelet holds its shape beautifully.

5. Filing and Smoothing Edges
Every edge is meticulously filed by hand, ensuring there are no sharp points or rough surfaces. The entire bracelet, including the outside edges are filed, to create an even finish, this takes time but ensures that the surface will be perfect for Hand Engraving.

6. Buffing and Surface Smoothing
After filing, we carefully buff over the whole cuff to achieve a flawless, smooth surface - a very important step to ensure no file or pit marks are left in the silver for that perfect polish later.

7. Polishing the Silver
We use an industrial grade polishing motor to professionally grease and polish the bracelet, giving it a shiny silver finish.

8. Ready for Stone Setting or Hand Engraving
Now the real magic happens: the bracelet is ready for any optional stone setting or hand engraving. Beautiful designs, names, dates, or meaningful messages are engraved entirely by hand,  both outside and inside.

9. Final Touches and Finishing
After engraving, we give the bracelet a final polish on the polishing motor, then wash out in the ultrasonic cleaning tank.  It’s then carefully wrapped, boxed, and made ready for gifting (or keeping!).
