    This silver bookmark was the perfect gift for my mother! It's beautifully crafted, with a lovely weight and elegant design. She was absolutely delighted with it.

    Much smaller and thinner than I thought. Hall mark almost impossible to read even with a magnifying glass. Engraving looks nice, good to know it was old fashioned craftsmanship not just electrical engraving. Bit disappointed overall though.

    We're sorry to hear the bookmark felt smaller or thinner than expected. We use a solid sterling silver sheet that’s actually thicker than many on the market, as it needs to be strong and thick enough to be hand engraved by Peter, cutting out the silver using traditional tools. The size is our standard bookmark and has been very popular over the years, with many lovely reviews from happy customers with all of the different hand engraved designs we create.

    The hallmark is stamped by the Birmingham Assay Office and is slightly larger than the standard hallmark and compliments the size of the bookmark – it is struck into the silver, and going any larger on a stamped hallmark would mean that the silver would be deformed due to the pressure stricking the silver.

    We’re really glad to hear you appreciated the hand engraving – every cut is done by eye and hand, with time, skill and care.
